Have you secured your Connect the Classroom funding to improve internet speeds, Wi-Fi access, and network switching?
We work closely with schools to make sure they get the most from any available government funding, including the Connect the Classroom scheme to enable fast, consistent, secure, and reliable connectivity across your whole school or MAT.
Schools receiving targeted intervention through the Regional Improvement for Standards and Excellence (RISE) program are eligible to apply for Connect the Classroom funding to address the issues of:
Connect the Classroom mandates that the latest network standards approved by the Wi-Fi Alliance (Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi 7) are deployed, allowing newer devices to operate at their true potential. Access points that predate W-Fi 6 or 7 will start to struggle as they won’t be able to operate at the newer standards.
Ransomware is a growing threat for schools with some having to physically close due to being unable to access their servers, files and IT systems. New threats love old technology, and unsupported Wi-Fi solutions, which no longer benefit from regular security patches are often an easy entry point for hackers.
Guests entering your school or MAT have to sign in and out, and the same process should apply to your network. Connect the Classroom funding provides solutions to ensure no-one can access your Wi-Fi network unless they are known to you, have passed security checks, and their device has been authenticated.
Without appropriate management tools, IT managers find it extremely difficult to know if and when areas of the network are struggling to handle high numbers of devices or increased traffic that puts a strain on bandwidth. By providing them with this information they can make informed decisions to maximize teaching potential, minimise downtime, and secure the network.
Connect the Classroom is a huge opportunity for schools and MAT’s to modernise their digital infrastructure without spending their own budgets. He is how it works:
